The Lateral Lumbar Prosthetic Disc (LLD) devices are intervertebral disc replacement devices intended as treatment options for pain and functional disorders specific to the lumbar vertebral column. The aim is to restore segmental stability, restore and maintain intervertebral disc height, preserve motion of the spine, and protect adjacent segments from non-physiological loading conditions. Preferred patients are those suffering from post-discectomy syndrome and symptomatic degenerative disc disease.
The LLD implant is used for lumbar lateral spinal disc replacement. The lumbosacral segment (L5-S1) is excluded.
