Cranial fixation plates are used as bone fixation devices for; cranioplasties, craniotomies and maxillofacial surgeries. A cranioplasty is performed mostly after traumatic injuries to surgically repair a bone defect in the skull that's left behind after a previous operation or injury. The cranial defect may be either cosmetic or functional.
The titanium mesh plate design enables effective 3D contouring, allowing for a close anatomical fit. A craniotomy is the surgical removal of part of the bone from the skull to expose the brain. The bone flap is temporarily removed, then replaced after the brain surgery has been performed. Fixation of the bone flap is performed using the zero profile titanium plates and screws. Oral & Maxillofacial surgery (OMS) specializes in treating many diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues of the Oral (mouth) and Maxillofacial (jaws and face) region.
The Southern MICRO set is made up by 0.6mm thick plates with 26 different shapes and sizes to accommodate different anatomies.
The range is 'purpose' designed to achieve a 'user friendly' experience. This is achieved by means of a tray design, easy implant application and device identification. The different screw sizes are anodized to distinguish between the 1.5mm (blue) screws and 1.7mm (grey) recovery screws. The screw lengths range between 3mm and 7mm.
